Peer reviewing
I've been a peer reviewer for several journals, including Futures, the Journal of Responsible Innovation, and Minds and Machines, as well as workshops such as the AAAI International Workshop on AI, Ethics, and Society.
Editorial work
I've been an editorial assistant for the Journal of Responsible Innovation for three years, during which time I've been responsible for preliminary review and reviewer recommendation for new submissions, as well as some other aspects of the journal's operation.
Committees
I've served on the program committee for the AAAI International Workshop on AI, Ethics, and Society, and am a member of the Law committee of the IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems.
Workshop leadership
I have been co-chair of two workshops, one on the potential role for automation in reducing "soft costs" in solar energy, co-chaired with Clark Miller of Arizona State University, and the other on the security risks of AI, co-chaired with Shahar Avin of the University of Cambridge. A report on the latter workshop is under preparation. I also recently co-chair a scenario planning workshop on the future of AI with Lauren Keeler.
